OUTLINE plans to turn a former filling station into a residential development in Darlington were approved yesterday.
The Co-Operative's Group's application to develop Priory Garages, on Parkgate, were given the go-ahead by Darlington borough Council's planning committee.
Environmental Health officers also recommended an investigation into possible land contamination, because the site had been previously used as a petrol filling station and a landfill site.
Improvement work to the accesses to both Melland Street and Parkgate was also suggested by highways engineers.
The committee approved the application with two additional conditions for a ground investigation and the inclusion of cycle storage.
