A BEER festival in the grounds of a cathedral was so successful it twice ran out of the most popular brew.
Volunteers made two trips to Knaresborough to replenish supplies of beer from Roosters Brewery, at Grimbald Park.
Roosters Cathedral Special proved the most popular beer at the festival, held in the grounds of Ripon Cathedral, closely followed by Durham Cathedral Evensong.
More than 700 people visited the first cathedral festival. Organisers have promised to re-run the event on May Day bank holiday next year.
They conceded there were "murmurs of discontent" in some quarters about the festival being held in the cathedral grounds.
But Margaret Hammond, spokeswoman for the Ripon Cathedral Development Campaign, which has raised more than £1m over five years, said the event had been held behind the deanery and had not directly affected the cathedral.
More than £3,000 was raised for the music foundation.
* The next fundraising event is a charity fashion show on Wednesday, in the cathedral nave. The first show starts at 2.30pm, with an evening show and reception at 7pm.
