STEVE McClaren has been confimed as the new head coach of England. He will take up his post from August 1 on a four-year deal.
The news means that McClaren, who is currently right hand man to Sven-Goran Eriksson will lead his Middlesbrough side for the last time next Wednesday - when they take on Seville in the final of the UEFA Cup.
He has been involved with the international side since 2000 and, after Luiz Scolari rejected the job last week, The FA turned to the Boro chief.
He admitted: "This is the biggest honour that any coach can have, and is obviously the highlight of my career.''
