A nurse who poisoned his flatmates after falling out over the cleaning rota has been found dead at his home, police said last night.

Accident and Emergency nurse Andrew Percy, 22, was due to be sentenced yesterday at Newcastle Crown Court after he admitted putting bleach in the milk at the flat he shared with two women.

Mr Percy was found dead at a house in Roxburgh Place, Heaton, Newcastle at 5.30pm yesterday.

Northumbria Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and the matter has been referred to the coroner.

Mr Percy, who worked in the casualty department of Newcastle General Hospital, fell out with former flatmates Victoria Ege and Hannah Verinder over the cleaning rota.

In revenge, he put bleach in soya milk and a bottle of semi skimmed which the women used to make tea and poured on breakfast cereal.

They were immediately suspicious and called police to the rented five-bedroom flat in the Sandyford area.

Mr Percy was arrested and admitted to police he had done a stupid thing.

He pleaded guilty at Newcastle Crown Court to two counts of administering a poison or noxious substance and was warned he may be jailed.

The case was adjourned for psychiatric reports until yesterday.

Judge Tony Lancaster said at the time: These are serious matters and the court is bound to consider custody.
