A DANCE school has repeated a successful raid on Yorkshire after sweeping many categories in a recent championship.

Members of the Linda Camsell School of Dance returned to County Durham from the 20th East Coast Freestyle Dance Festival with an array of silverware.

The accolades included sashes for the outright winner in 16 categories at the four-day event, staged at Cayton Bay, North Yorkshire, over the Easter break.

It followed a similarly successful trip to last year's championship for the Stanley-based dance school, better known as the Camsell Crew.

This year's success was spread across the board for the 35-strong team, and dancers were supported by 45 parents and other family members.

The club found its youngest-ever winner, in five-year-old Keeley Dickman.

The daughter of Darlington and ex-Sunderland footballer Jonjo Dickman and his wife, Michelle, Keeley emerged successful in the under-six freestyle event.

Mrs Camsell said: "She did tremendously well, and hopefully she'll be back to win again next year."

Meanwhile, Camsell Crew members are limbering up for another major event in Yorkshire, the Ultimate Championship, in Sheffield, on May 7.

The school attracts scores of youngsters from across north-west Durham to twice-weekly classes.

It meets at the Hibernia Club, in Station Road, Stanley, on Wednesday, from 7pm to 9pm, and at Stanley Community Centre, in Tyne Road, on Saturday, between 10am and 5pm.
