PEOPLE with mobility difficulties can explore Tees Valley Nature Reserves thanks to an electric scooter event.
Stockton Borough Council is running the Scenes of Stockton ramble in partnership with Stockton Shopmobility, on Monday, for users of electric scooters and wheelchairs.
The four-and-a-half-mile route will take participants from the Castlegate Shopping Centre, in Stockton High Street, at 11am, to the Tees Barrage international canoe course for lunch.
The ramble will then continue over Newport Bridge, in Middlesbrough, and through two Tees Valley Wildlife Trust nature reserves.
The ramble is planned to return to Stockton High Street at 2.30pm.
This is one of three Forest Mobility events planned for electric scooters in Stockton this summer and all are supported by The Tees Forest, Tees Valley Wildlife Trust and the Castlegate Quay.
Councillor Jean O'Donnell, cabinet member for arts, leisure and culture, said: "Electric scooters and wheelchairs are a lifeline for many people with mobility difficulties who would not normally be able to visit places such as nature reserves, and this ramble is a great way for everyone to experience the many wonderful sights of the Tees Valley."
Scooters can be booked free for this event. However, participants are asked to use their own, if they have them. To book a place, or to book a scooter, call Stockton Shopmobility on (01642) 605676.
