A COUNCIL has been encouraging tenants to keep their rent account clear of arrears by entering them into a free prize draw.
Tenants living in Wear Valley, who have a clear rent account and no breaches of tenancy, were entered into the draw last month to win £50.
The winner was David William Metcalf, from Scott Road, Bishop Auckland, who was presented with his winnings last week by Councillor Jeff Gale.
The council intends to hold more prize draws later this year.
One of the draws to be held will be for those customers who pay by direct debit and there will be another for those who have a clear account.
