CHILDREN took the bait during a Easter holidays extravaganza to get them interested in fishing.

The fishing event was held at Maidendale Fishing and Nature Reserve for children from Firthmoor.

It was the first fishing event organised by a new countryside ranger, Ruth Congreve, who is based at Maidendale House, Burnside Road.

Other school holiday attractions included tree planting, boardwalk construction and crafts.

A series of other events are being planned throughout the spring and summer.

Miss Congreve has been appointed by Darlington Borough Council as the first ranger in the town to get more people involved in the development of the four-year-old reserve.
