TALENTED performers will take to the stage next week to raise money for charity.
The Gala Theatre, in Durham City, is to stage a night of entertainment on Tuesday to raise money for charities nominated by the city's mayor, Councillor John Lightley.
Local entertainer and comic Steve Walls will host the evening of entertainment, which starts at 7.30pm.
The Bush Big Band will play a selection of music from Glenn Miller and Count Basie, while the talents of the Gala Theatre Stage School will also be brought to life in a showcase of musical numbers and sketches.
Coun Lightley said: "I am very grateful to the staff of the Gala Theatre and the performers, who have put together such an excellent evening of entertainment in support of my charities."
The mayor's nominated charities this year are The Treetops Children's Unit at the University Hospital of North Durham, and The Gala Theatre Stage School.
Tickets, priced £12 or £10 for concessions, are available from the Gala Theatre Box Office on 0191-332 4041.
