A NIGHTCLUB will host a teenagers' party to launch a website promoting activities for children and young people across Sedgefield borough.

Cube, in Spennymoor, will host the event next Wednesday, from 6pm to 9pm, to celebrate the online arrival of www.offthestreet. org.uk

The website aims to keep people aged 19 and under and their parents informed about activities in the area by providing information on leisure and sporting activities, early years groups and education courses.

The launch event will include giant video games, live music, dancing, a martial arts demonstration, karaoke and dance competitions and a prize give-away.

The website is a multi-agency project involving Sedgefield Co-ordination of Social Inclusion Programmes (CoSIP), Durham County Council's Youth Engagement Service and Education in the Community (Youth Service) and Sedgefield Borough Council.

Diane Major, area co-ordinator for Education in the Community, said: "More and more young people are logging on to the Internet to find the information they want.

"This website will let them know about activities that are relevant to their lives and provide a valuable source of information for parents, too."
