TEACHERS from Europe have enjoyed a flavour of English school life during a five-day visit.
Seven teachers from Germany, Poland and Denmark shared lessons at Crook Primary School through the Comenius international exchange project, sponsored by the British Council.
The initiative promotes professional development by allowing staff from different countries to study different teaching methods and education systems.
Pupils performed a play based on their lessons on the Tudors called Henry XIII and his Six Wives for the visitors and the acting chairman of Wear Valley District Council, Councillor Eddie Murphy, presented a £300 cheque to cover the hospitality costs.
Assistant headteacher Angela Malkin said: "It has been a very successful visit.
"This is one way of transferring teaching methods and it is nice for the children to get to know about other countries.
"They have been able to speak German which has been very useful.
