A COMMUNITY newspaper is giving safe cyclists the chance to win a bicycle.
The Way Ahead newspaper, distributed in South Bank, near Middlesbrough, has teamed up with its neighbourhood policing team and health authority to encourage riders to use bicycle lights.
Police community support officers Andy Harrison and Paul Walker have been on the streets of South Bank to stop cyclists who are setting a good example and using their bike lights.
Their names are being put into a hat for a prize draw next month. The winners will receive a signed Middlesbrough Football Club shirt, an adult mountain bike and a safety pack or £25 Asda hamper.
Neighbourhood policing sergeant Jim Brown said: "This is a great incentive to encourage people to make sure they are seen when they are cycling.
