BUILDING firm Hall Construction Services has won more than £25m of work since the start of the year.

The County Durham group, which is working on projects around the region, including Durham Tees Valley Airport, expects turnover to rise to £50m this year.

Based in Rushyford, the company recently won its third football stadium contract, with an £11m deal to build a 10,000-seat arena for Shrewsbury Town.

Hall also built Cambridge United's £4m ground and Darlington's £14.8m stadium, now known as the 96.6 TFM Darlington Arena.

The company was established in the early 1970s and has six main divisions - infrastructure, commercial, land reclamation, stadia, house building and mineral recovery.

Business development manager Tim Barrick said: "In the past five years or so, we have expanded in the building area, which started with the development of the Darlington stadium. On the back of that contract, we have won other big projects.

"Turnover for the current year is likely to reach £50m, which is significantly higher than last year."

He said the majority of the group's work was in the North-East and Yorkshire.

The group is already working on its third contract for Durham Tees Valley Airport, making improvements to the terminal facade and passenger lounge.

Mr Barrick said Hall Construction had played a significant role in many commercial and industrial projects, including business and enterprise parks, across the region.

The group is due to begin work on two multi-million pound schemes - an industrial development at Faverdale East, Darlington, for the Easter Group, and the building of ten units at Monkton Business Park, Hebburn, South Tyneside, for Priority Sites.

Work is under way on a £2m workshop development for business start-ups at Lingfield Way, Darlington, for Evans Easyspace.

Other contracts secured by the company include a £1.3m recycling village at South Shields, South Tyneside, environmental improvements at Murray Street, Hartlepool, work at Teesport for PD Ports and improvements at Central Park, Darlington, for Tees Valley Regeneration.

Hall also owns and operates its own mineral recovery division, Eppleton Products.
