Lucy Madden, 16, from Darlington, is an AS-level student at Queen Elizabeth Sixth Form College in the town.

A lot of students would like to see more investment in higher education. Top-up fees are incredibly unpopular.

I think the Government will announce more money for education because it said its priorities were education, education, education. I would like to see more money for universities and more funding for things like research grants.

Travel is also a big issue, a lot of people would like to see free travel for students and pensioners. I would also like to see travel services improved and more investment in travel schemes. We wouldn't mind paying for travel services if they were better.

There is a lot of support for the smoking ban among students. I would like to see more tax on things that damage the environment. The extra money could be invested in renewable energy sources.

We have heard a lot about the multi-million pound NHS deficit and I would like to see a gradual increase in spending so they can find out where the problems are and correct them slowly.

I would also like to see more for international aid following Live 8 last year. We should be working with developing nations and investing in fair trade
