PLUSH fittings from the spiritual home of a North-East football team could be available to hardcore fans for the right price.

Wooden panels that once graced Feethams, the former home of Darlington Football Club, have been put up for sale on Internet auction site eBay.

The panels have been reclaimed by Sunderland-based contractors Nor-Dem, from the East Stand of the now derelict football stadium.

Nor-Dem, which is involved in the demolition of the former stadium, says the panels would be perfect for the home of serious Quakers fans who want to own a piece of the club's history.

Managing director Paul Rolfe said: "I just thought some really serious Darlington fan might want to buy them. Rather than just have them in the yard, I thought I'd put them on the Internet site.

"It's something I've been doing for a couple of weeks now and I've sold 90 per cent of the things I've put on there."

The panels, which measure 2.27 metres by 1.09 metres are on sale for £200 for all four, or to the highest bidder.

Yesterday, no bids had been received for the panels, but Mr Rolfe said he had received inquiries about them.

He said: "We do a lot of reclamation, everything from radiators to floor boards, but this is the first time we've done a football stadium."

Feethams had been home to the Quakers since 1883. Work to dismantle the stadium began last month after concerns it had become a health hazard, following vandalism and arson attacks.

Darlington FC moved to its new stadium, in the town's Neasham Road, in 2003.
