OWNERSHIP of a historic building in Sadberge has been transferred to the parish council to preserve its future.
The parish council took ownership of the beacon on the old reservoir in the village after a planning application to demolish and landscape the reservoir was approved.
The planning committee said the beacon should be preserved because of its historical importance.
The parish council has suggested it might turn the site into a nature reserve.
The beacon may be moved within the site when the reservoir is demolished.
An additional pump house will also be retained but may also be altered in the future.
