A MAJOR housing scheme is likely to be refused permission for the second time.
Persimmon Homes wants to build 79 houses at Prospect Farm, on Thirsk Road, Easingwold. The company was refused permission for an 84-home estate last year. An appeal is to be heard in May.
The latest application is for 79 apartments and houses and a car park for Easingwold Primary School.
Town councillors have voiced concerns, saying it would put more pressure on parking and health care.
Hambleton District Council planning officer Tim Wood recommended refusal. He said: "The main consideration in this application is the fact that the majority of the site is outside development limits and that the approval of such a site is contrary to the adopted policy."
Councillors meet on Thursday to discuss the plans.
