A TOP young DJ will win a dream slot live on radio when hundreds of hopefuls take part in a mix-off.

Youngsters will come together during the half-term break, next week, to take part in a DJ competition, culminating in a major play-off at Tall Trees Hotel, in Yarm, on April 12.

The overall winner will have the gig of their dreams with their very own 60-minute slot on Galaxy Radio.

Youth Services across Teesside, in partnership with Galaxy Radio, will be holding workshops to give youngsters aged between 13 and 19 the opportunity to take part, improve or find new skills, and get advice and information on a range of topics.

Stockton's workshop will take place at Grangefield Youth and Community Centre, Stockton on Thursday, February 23, with various free activities.

Urban Kaos will be giving a demonstration of street dance, Teesside Mohawks will be encouraging basketball and showing their skills, and Tees Active will be letting everyone know all that's on offer in sport in the borough.

Young people can gain advice on healthy eating, drugs, sexual health, smoking, and can visit Ask Frank on-line, which is a confidential advice service and Stash, (Stockton Together Against Substance Harm), a local drug treatment and information service.

Local play-offs will take place prior to the big event at the Tall Trees.

Stockton's will take place on Thursday, March 16, at the Grangefield Youth and Community Centre.

Redcar will stage their Borough final at Grangetown Youth and Community Centre on Friday, March 17.

Hartlepool's will be on March 14, in The Studio, and Middlesbrough's will be held in Newport Youth Club on March 15.
