A CREATIVE scheme is helping artists move into employment or training.

Gallery TS1 encourages unemployed people to bring their artistic talents to the fore and sell their creations direct to the public.

The Middlesbrough Council scheme has so far seen 80 percent of participants go into employment, further training or self employment.

The project was started by Juliet Farrar, who was inspired by similar schemes in Birmingham and Chicago.

She said: "This is a great opportunity for young people to contribute to the regeneration of the town and demonstrate their creative talents whilst learning new skills."

The gallery, in Corporation Road, is open until Saturday, from 10am to 4pm.
