A SPENNYMOOR school has double cause to celebrate after landing an award and receiving an excellent report from Government inspectors.
Ox Close Primary School has been awarded an ICT Mark by Becta, the Government's lead group for information and communication technology (ICT) in education.
Headteacher Jo Frost said: "We are delighted to receive the ICT Mark. It recognises our approach to ICT and the positive impact that it is having on our school as a whole."
Education watchdog Ofsted gave the school a glowing report -judging it good in every aspect, with some outstanding features.
The report said: "The headteacher provides outstanding leadership, which has resulted in high standards and good provision."
Inspectors found pupils achieve very good results, and said: "Learning is exciting and well-matched to the needs of individual pupils."
They also highlighted ICT as a strength, and said: "The school website enhances the curriculum and offers opportunities for parents to learn with their children at home." Chairman of governors Pamela Sneath said: "It is reassuring to know the school is attaining such high standards for our children, and we agree with the inspector that it is a school to be proud of."
