A SCHOOL is seeking nostalgic memories from former pupils and staff as it prepares for an amalgamation next term.

Dene Valley Primary School is to join forces with Eldon Lane Primary School in September, with the current building likely to be demolished.

The Bishop Auckland school is hoping to celebrate its past of almost 100 years with a collection of memorabilia and recollections, to be held in the summer.

Staff are hoping that people who used to attend or work for the school will come forward with items to display or to talk about their time there.

They are also seeking volunteers to help them set up a working group to help organise the event.

Headteacher Ray Hill said: "The school opened in 1912 so there must be all kinds of memorabilia out there.

"We are wanting one or two 'keenies' who want to help with the working party and keep it going, but we also want as many photos and items as possible, even contact names for ex-pupils, staff members and governors."

The event is likely to be held in July at the school, ahead of the newly-formed school opening in September, and Mr Spring added: "The success depends on the contributions we get."

The school can be contacted on (01388) 603947.
