IMPROVED health is not the only benefit facing walkers in Wear Valley - there are prizes to be had too.
Following the launch of the Wear Walking for Health 10,000 steps-a-day challenge last autumn, people who have completed their personal record cards can take part in a prize draw.
The winner will receive £25 worth of gift vouchers, while all walkers completing 100 miles or more will receive a certificate of achievement.
Cards should be sent in after 12 weeks, and should be returned to: Lynn Wilson, Wear Walking for Health co-ordinator, community services department, Wear Valley District Council, Civic Centre, Crook, County Durham, DL15 9ES.
Anybody wishing to start the challenge can pick up information leaflets and record cards from the same address, or at Woodhouse Close Leisure Complex, in Bishop Auckland, and Glenholme Leisure Complex, in Crook.
Wear Walking for Health holds regular walks throughout the area. For more details, contact Lynn Wilson on (01388) 765555 extension 217.
