Detectives investigating a sexual assault on a 15-year-old girl have arrested a man.
The teenage victim was grabbed around the waist in the Canal Basin car park, in Ripon, North Yorkshire, on New Year's Day.
She managed to break free and run home.
A 35-year-old man from the Harrogate area was last night being questioned in Harrogate police station in connection with the incident Last week, police warned women to be vigilant after a spate of alleged sex attacks in Ripon.
The investigation into one incident in a car park off Westgate on December 17 has now been closed.
Police say they are now satisfied the attack did not take place.
The complaint has been withdrawn by the victim.
Enquiries are continuing into an incident on December 29 when a 17-year-old girl was grabbed from behind and threatened by a man in Firby Road.
She also managed to break free and summon help. .
