HOLIDAY CLUB FOR CHILDREN: Children aged between six and 11 are invited to a new holiday club at St Osmund's Centre, in Gainford, on Monday, January 6, from 2pm to 3.30pm. This will be followed by Young Gainford for six weeks every Monday from 6pm to 7pm. There will be a charge of 50p per person. UNIFORM FUNDS: The Sans Pariels Jazz Band, Shildon, raised £142.10 towards the cost of new uniforms for band members at a winter fair recently.

MUSICAL TALENT: Ten-year-old Jessica Foster, of Trimdon, has passed the Associated Board of Royal Schools of Music piano exam at grade one.

CHAPEL CASH: A Christmas Fair at Gainford Methodist Church on Saturday, December 3, raised more than £400 for chapel funds.

HOUSE COLLECTION: A house-to-house collection for Marie Curie Cancer Care in Winston raised £186.35.

FARMERS MARKET: The next Sedgefield farmers market will take place on the village green on January 8, from 9.30am to 1.30pm.
