RECENT test results for 11-year-olds showed that Hartlepool pupils have improved more than anywhere else in the country over the past two years.
GCSE results in the town for this year were also the best ever.
A partnership of Hartlepool Borough Council and Hartlepool United Football Club is being thanked for its part in the success story.
The Playing for Success initiative - a national scheme - involves children from primary, secondary and special schools in the town attending a study support centre at Victoria Park. Over the past year 18 Hartlepool schools participated in the programme to improve skills.
