THE 1507 Chester-le-Street Squadron has been named as the website Pick of the Month by The Northern Echo's CommuniGate team.

The site offers lots of information about how to join the group, with days and times of their parades, as well as details of the courses it runs - including a BTEC in aviation studies, flying and gliding and adventure training.

More importantly for anyone interested in joining them, the group welcomes members who are not necessarily interested in a career in the Royal Air Force or the aerospace industries and they are happy to welcome personal visits from prospective cadets. Full contact details are also available on the site.

The group won a digital camera as its prize, which was presented by CommuniGate's community web editor, Karen Maughan. The camera is sponsored by Sales and Marketing Services, of Darlington.

The CommuniGate scheme has helped more than 2,300 non-profit groups in the North-East get online and gives away a free camera every month to the website featured on its homepage. For details on how to set up a free website, telephone (01325) 505270 or visit www.communigate.co.uk/ne
