ELDERLY residents in West Auckland have been presented with Christmas hampers.
West Auckland Parish Council handed over hampers containing mince pies, sherry, fruit and other offerings to residents of Devonshire House Nursing Home and East Green Home. All of the items were bought from stores within the village.
Parish council chairman John Ferguson said: "We have provided two hampers for the Devonshire House and East Green residential homes, as we felt we wanted to give a bit of cheer to the elderly."
Councillor Ferguson delivered the hampers, along with fellow councillors Colin Mairs and Andy Turner.
At Devonshire House, resident Charlotte Mulligan took delivery of the hampers, while Kathy Grisdale, an avid Northern Echo reader, received the hampers on behalf of East Green.
