FLOWER arrangers followed up a successful church festival last summer by creating colourful displays for Christmas.
Marjorie Cooper and Phyllis Wilkinson, who are both members of the congregation at St Paul's, in Hunwick, answered a call from Fr Stewart Irwin to fill the church with flowers for Christmas.
In June, Mrs Cooper, a past president and chairwoman of Shildon Flower Club, led a team of helpers who produced 31 arrangements based on saints and sacraments.
Fr Irwin said: "It was so successful I asked them to do something for Christmas.
"It is lovely for a small village church to have such a wonderful display of flowers for out services this weekend. It is really uplifting."
Midnight Mass at St Paul's is at 11.30pm on Christmas Eve. Christmas Day Mass with carols is at 10am.
