A TEESDALE youth group has launched a Buy a Brick appeal to help fund its bid for a new youth centre.
Teesdale Community Resources (TCR), in Barnard Castle, hopes people will buy bricks for its proposed £1.2m centre at Harmire Road Enterprise Park.
The bricks are being sold at £5 each and everybody who buys one will have their names entered on a roll of honour. People who buy enough bricks could even have one of the new rooms named after them.
Over the years, TCR has run a number of schemes for young people and the community, such as play schemes, a furniture recycling scheme and a recording studio and rehearsal facilities at its current base at Birch Road.
Youth worker Keith Jones said: "This new venture will be our biggest step ever.
"We aim to create a new facility to improve our current service and develop more opportunities."
The new centre would provide a number of activities for young people as well as training for different trades.
The site at Birch Road would also be used to create social housing.
