POLICE are appealing for information after concerns were raised about people "touting" for charity in Bishop Auckland yesterday.
A group of people were selling tickets in Bishop Auckland town centre, offering an exotic holiday in Greece apparently in aid of charity.
But police are investigating further and want anybody approached or who bought a ticket to come forward.
PC Bill Lavery, of Bishop Auckland Police, said: "Some people in the town centre, purporting to be from a group called Rainbow Promotions, have been selling tickets."
The tickets were sold for £2 each, and police would like to gather more information to determine the validity of the competition.
Anybody with information is asked to contact PC Lavery or PC Yolland on 0845 6060365.
