SCHOOLCHILDREN enjoyed Christmas food on a grand scale yesterday as they were served up a festive treat.
Council catering staff produced 1,200 traditional Christmas dinners for youngsters at Hummersknott School and Language College, in Darlington.
It was the first time that so many festive dinners had been provided in any of the town's schools.
A borough council spokeswoman said: "It was a great treat for the children. The staff did a great job and we hope it was enjoyed by everyone."
