THE proud parents of X Factor brothers Andy and Carl Pemberton have appealed to people across the North to help their sons win the contest on Saturday by voting for them.

Trevor and Genda Pemberton are heading to London today, and Mr Pemberton said: "I am such a proud dad that everywhere I go, I tell people I am Journey South's father."

The brothers, from Coulby Newham, Middlesbrough, have proved popular on the reality TV show. Last week, their mentor, Simon Cowell, said they were among the nicest people he had met.

Mrs Pemberton said: "During the live shows, my stomach is in my throat and we are holding hands."

Finalists Andy Abraham, Shayne Ward and Journey South have recorded a new song called That's My Goal, to be released by the winner a few days before Christmas.

Mrs Pemberton said: "Andy and Carl have said it is an absolutely beautiful song.

"They are confident of their own abilities, but they are going to be very nervous."

Mr and Mrs Pemberton said the boys would sing Elton John's Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me and another song, to be decided on the night. The contestant with the least votes will be eliminated and then the final two will sing a Christmas song.

Mr Pemberton said: "They are getting better and better and growing in confidence. It means absolutely everything to them and they really do deserve to win. We would like to ask everybody to vote for them."

The boys have been home twice in the past ten weeks, but their family have been travelling to London every week. Mrs Pemberton said it had cost about £3,000. Train operator GNER has given free rail tickets to London every week for the Pembertons, Andy's wife, Michelle, and Carl's girlfriend, Victoria.
