Some of Doctor Who's deadliest enemies will be on the prowl in the North-East this weekend.

The Master, Cybermen and an Axxon will be making a nuisance of themselves at the Museum of Hartlepool this Saturday, between 11am and 3pm.

They will be seizing the chance to see the successful Out Of This World exhibition at the museum, on the Marina, before it ends on Sunday. The exhibition features the collection of models and memorabilia from the world of film and television belonging to Hartlepool modelmaker Paul Bianco.

Paul has been making models for almost 25 years, and among his impressive creations on display in the museum are full-size replicas of Doctor Who's robot dog K-9, Star Wars' Yoda and C3PO, and Rygell, from BBC TV's Farscape series.

However, there are also models of Lady Penelope's FAB 1 car from Thunderbirds and her faithful chauffeur Parker.

Such is the quality of Paul's work that it has been featured in television programmes, including the Big Breakfast, Blue Peter and Kilroy.

Claire Munroe, of Hartlepool Council's arts, museums and events service, said: "It's not every day that you get the chance to come face to face with The Master or see lethal Cybermen roaming the Museum of Hartlepool, so make tracks to the exhibition on Saturday if you are brave enough.

"We have been delighted to host this exhibition of Paul's collection, which is all the more amazing when you realise that he doesn't buy special materials to make his replicas, but just uses whatever scrap materials he can find.

"The exhibition has been a tremendous success, the number of visitors to the museum has risen by more than half on the same time last year."

The Museum of Hartlepool is open every day from 10am to 5pm and admission is free. For more information about the exhibition call (01429) 860077.
