Liberal Democrat leader Charles Kennedy MP has cancelled a scheduled visit to the North-East today.
A spokesman said the visit to Newcastle had been cancelled just hours before Mr Kennedy was due to arrive "due to personal family reasons".
Mr Kennedy had been due to meet the leader of Newcastle City Council and have lunch with members of the regional Chamber of Commerce during a six-hour visit to the region.
