A SIGNING dictionary, which has been distributed all over the world, is celebrating 20 years in print.

Communication Link was first published in 1985 by the Cleveland Sign Resource Project. Since then, it has produced 231,000 copies.

The dictionary, which was even published in Urdu, features 1,900 different signing illustrations, with explanatory notes.

Now, an anniversary edition of Communication Link has been produced, to celebrate the past achievements of Beverly School for Deaf Children.

It features the school logo, as a tribute to the staff, pupils and parents who were involved with the school over the 36 years of its existence.

The school was the original home of Communication Link, before it closed in 2002.

Beverley School is now a school catering for autistic children. The deaf children and staff who formerly worked at Beverley School are integrated into King's Academy, Colby Newham.

The organisation recently published its first Children's ABC Alphabet Flip Book, which was produced by deaf and hearing staff at Sunnyside Communication Base, Coulby Newham.

The Cleveland Sign Resource Project has also produced a CDRom for Devon and Cornwall Emergency Services, entitled Signs for Survival, and it is in talks with Cleveland Police to produce a deaf awareness leaflet.
