RITCHIE Humphreys admits Hartlepool United were left to rue five minutes of madness on Saturday.

Two goals from Swansea's Lee Trundle turned the game in the visitors' favour as he cancelled out the opener from Pool's skipper.

Tony Sweeney claimed an equaliser in a game Pool dominated for long periods.

"They didn't give us any problems in the first-half at all and we kept them on the back foot,'' he said.

"We conceded two in quick succession, which disappointed us. But we responded well and dominated up to their goals and dominated straight after their goals as well.

"It was just that one slack period which cost us.

"In the situation we find ourselves in at the moment, taking something out of the game is a positive and another point on the board.

"This squad of players will keep going. We showed against Swansea how we can play, we passed the ball around and were the better team for long, long periods.''

He added: "Full credit to the young boys who came in, (Michael) Maidens especially and (Stephen) Turnbull did well in front of the back four when he came on as well.

"Tinks has done very well in the two games he's played. He's been out for a while and gave it everything in those games, so it's understandable he might not last the full game.

"He has an important job in there, winning headers and tackles in midfield - he did very well and can be pleased with his contribution.

"He's experienced and reads the game well and it's good to know he's there in front of us.''

Humphreys' long-range free-kick put Pool in the lead and he admitted: "The keeper probably should have claimed it. It was on his side, I don't know if he got a hand on it at all, but it went in, so I'm not complaining - it gets me off the mark for the season.''
