A POPULAR dales agricultural show takes place tomorrow with a large number of exhibitors and attractions.

The 130th Eggleston Show will take place at Streatlam Farm, near Barnard Castle.

As well as the traditional agricultural show classes, a large number of other activities are also planned.

There will be a Land Rover handling competition and an archery competition.

For the first time, there will be junior horse driving classes.

There will also be a food hall with exhibitors of local produce and a working craft tent showing traditional dales crafts including dry-stone walling.

There is also a craft marquee with 30 exhibitors, as well as 50 general trade stands and 20 agricultural trade stands.

For youngsters, there will be a climbing wall and bicycle track.

Show secretary George Lawson said: "The entries are looking very good. We have had more cattle and very good entries for sheep and a lot of horse entries.

"We think we'll probably have the most Shetlands we've ever had. We have also had a lot of entries in the junior driving classes, which is quite encouraging. It should be a good day and hopefully the weather will behave itself."

The showfield will be open to exhibitors from 7.30am with judging starting at about 9am.

The day will culminate in the harness racing, which will begin at about 3pm.
