A TOWN stepped back in time to relive the sights, sounds and atmosphere of life during the Second World War.
Ferryhill hosted the nostalgic event on Saturday, with history enthusiasts wearing authentic period costume to perform a mock battle and display vehicles and weaponry.
The Northern World War Two Association set up camp in Dean Bank Recreation Ground. Throughout the day, they demonstrated how soldiers and civilians lived during the war years.
The Moonlight Serenaders, a trio of German and British vocalists, sang 1940s numbers and there were charity stalls and family activities.
The event was part of the Home Front Recall programme funded by the Big Lottery Fund.
A film crew recorded the event for a DVD to chart the town's commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the end of the war
