NEWCASTLE United's latest signing Emre and Scott Parker could get make their first appearances for their new club tonight.

The pair are in line to face Hartlepool United as the Magpies send an XI to Victoria Park.

With the Intertoto Cup campaign well underway, Newcastle's big guns will be absent.

But both Emre and Parker have not played in any of the games to date and could face Pool as they build up their fitness for next week's second leg with Deportivo.

Pool will be without promising striker James Brown, after the 18-year-old was injured in Tuesday's friendly defeat at Hearts.

Boss Martin Scott will discover today the extent of the damage, but it is feared the Cramlington-born front man, who has scored twice in pre-season, has damaged cruciate ligaments.

"Thankfully he is still young and he will get over it because the technology we have these days means we might only miss him for six months which is the worst case scenario, we just have to wait for the diagnosis," said Scott.

Brown caught his studs in the Easter Road turf and the injury has come as a blow to Scott who was ready to hand the striker a chance in his first-team squad this season.

Scott named Brown as a substitute in his first game in charge when Pool went to Bournemouth for the final league game of last season and, after an impressive pre-season campaign, was in Scott's plans.

The game kicks off at 7pm tonight and with Joel Porter sidelined after a knee operation, Scott could play Michael Proctor or Jon Daly with Adam Boyd in Pool's final game at Victoria Park before Bradford kick-off the new season a week tomorrow.

* Former Pool defender James Sharp has moved to Torquay, while ex-Pool and Newcastle striker Paul Robinson, who left Victoria Park for York last summer, has signed a two-year deal at Ross County. "He has had a hard time in recent years, but he has a great pedigree and there's plenty of time for him to resurrect his career, starting here,'' said boss John Robertson.
