A Bishop Auckland woman has praised hospital staff for the care and attention she received while undergoing an operation.

Marina Lockey, of Dorset Place, was admitted to Bishop Auckland General Hospital for a knee replacement operation.

During her stay she said staff went out of their way to give the utmost attention to all patients.

She said: "It seems that these days we hear nothing but complaints about our National Health Service.

"However, I have nothing but praise for all the staff on ward four, from the doctors and nurses, to the cleaners.

"During my stay nothing was too much trouble for any of the staff and I received the very best attention from everyone concerned."
