HAPPY Piggy Pork organic pork from Wensleydale is going on sale on the internet.

Mr David Kiely and his wife, Anne, have been involved in the Yorkshire carriage museum at Aysgarth for some years now, but recently set up business in organic pork. Now, after rearing old traditional breeds and crosses such as Gloucesters, Tamworths, Berkshire, Landrace and Large Whites it is time to sell their organic meat - Happy Piggy Pork.

They have butchers in Richmond, Masham, Leyburn and Bedale lined up to buy the pork, but decided to try further afield, hence the internet site so that individuals can order a single joint, or quarters and halves.

The pigs have been bred and reared in Wensleydale and roam freely in an extensive forest environment, totally free of any chemical spraying, and forage naturally.

They are allowed to live at least a year as they mature slowly in a natural habitat and their feed is supplemented daily with fruit and vegetables, but not with meal or growth enhancers, nor are they given antibiotics. They drink natural spring water.

Their meat is darker than that from other pigs, and more succulent, and it does not dry out in cooking.

Mr Kiely has been involved in a free 21-hour course at Craven College's Wensleydale centre, Askrigg, with other entrepreneurs in the dale including Wensleydale Rocking Horses; the Fountain hotel, Hawes; a temporar staff company ; the Low Mill centre and the Wensleydale centre itself.

The Kielys now look forward to the results of their hard labour at Manor Grange Farm, Yore Mill, Aysgarth Falls, Wensleydale, and can be contacted on 01969 663399, or anniekiely Res: G W Parker, Tar
