THERE was a mammoth entry for the BSJA Area 15 show held courtesy of the Barker family at Pasture House, Thornton-le-Moor, near Northallerton, on July 1 and 2, writes Malcolm Bewsher.

The senior Badminton Newcomers produced a 78-starter class and Wembley tickets went to Andrew Bonelli-Baird on Anique De Luca and Keith Shore with It's Magic Max.

Third and fourth went to Paul Barker with King Eddie and Sunboy. It was a good weekend for Paul, who also won the Jim Knox 1.35m open qualifier and the opening Web Factory 1.25m open on Waterford Lad. He also took the Area 15 adult open on Blue Chip Kildalton Lad, ahead of Stuart Neads with Michael Whitaker's Sublime, and the Horslyx novice qualifier riding Duet.

Jackson Reed-Simpson from Boroughbridge won the Young Riders B&C on Baileys Think Pink and Laurens. Laurens, owned by Clare and Rob Fawcett, has qualified for the Young Show Jumper final at Olympia.

Rachel Lumley and Merch Goch took Mr & Mrs P Slater's Adventurer Scope qualifier, while Angela Bell and Irco Mirco clinched The Barkers A4 and Darlington's Rachel Collinson took the DMS 1m championship qualifier with Miss Inca.

Janine Kemp, also from Darlington, took the 54-starter Discovery on Glenclovas Angel and also qualified for the Horslyx finals.

Swainby event rider Julia Picken took the Geoffrey Robinson Blue Ribbon qualifier on Tom Jackson.

Sally Adams from Stockton won the junior progressive with Kosmic King, while Lette Raw and It's Not Your Fault took the junior adventurer. Emma Denton from Thornaby took the 1.15m open on Stainsby Hotspot.

Sara Martin was runner-up in the junior newcomers second round with Zeemax and qualified for the Horse of the Year show in September. She was just pipped by Lynne Cliburn on Peggy Patch in the 63-starter class.
