A COMPANY which supplied carpets to thousands of North-East homes shut its last store this week.
Creditors of B and G Carpets will be summoned, with a view to putting the business into liquidation.
B and G Carpets operated for many years in the south of County Durham. In 1998 it had showrooms in Shildon, Durham, Chester-le-Street and Darlington.
But, more recently, it has operated from a showroom and warehouse on the George Reynolds Industrial Estate, on the outskirts of Shildon.
Yesterday, telephone callers were played a recorded message informing them that the business had closed.
Suppliers were told to contact Leonard Harris Partners, a Manchester firm of insolvency practitioners.
A spokesman for Leonard Harris confirmed yesterday that B and G Carpets had ceased trading on Monday.
Customers and creditors should contact Leonard Harris Partners at 75 Mosely Street, Manchester, M2 3HR, telephone 0161-236 9825.
