POWER salesmen who had their identity badges stolen while working on Teesside fear villains will now use them to trick their way into residents' homes.

Two direct-sales workers for the domestic energy firm npower, Derek Metcalf and Neil Young, had their identity badges stolen from their car in Stockton.

In response to the theft, they will not be working in the area again for three weeks. The salesmen have joined police in warning residents against anyone using their badges and claiming to be them when knocking on doors during August.

Anyone with any doubts about the identity of a energy salesmen, or anyone else, should call Stockton police, telephone (01642) 302226, or npower (0845) 6011102.
