A CHARITY is taking to the greens to promote its work in the environment.

The Acorn Trust, based at Delves Lane, is holding its annual golf day on the Fairways course at Burnopfield on Wednesday, September 6.

The proceeds will go towards funding a range of environmental projects which the trust carries out.

A spokesman said: "The Acorn Trust is holding this popular event in aid of its funds, which will enable the charity to continue its good work with the people and businesses of Derwentside.

"The Acorn Trust has been working for the last nine years to make and manage a better environment in which to live, work and play through a great many projects ranging from recycling schemes to community garden development."

Tickets for the golf day cost £25 and include refreshments.

A wide of range of prizes is being offered - the top prize being a round of golf for four players at the De Vere Slaley Hall course in Northumberland.
