BEATLES fanatics Stephen and Susan Sams didn't need any help from their friends when choosing a name for their newborn son - because Lennon Harrison hit the perfect note.

The lifelong Fab Four fans, from Evenwood, in County Durham, decided to honour their favourite band after giving birth to their own little star at Bishop Auckland General Hospital on Sunday.

And although they have had a few hard day's nights since getting Lennon home, they are already confident that he will be a huge Beatles fan like the rest of his family.

For Stephen and Susan have been surrounded by Beatles music since they were born, with both their parents mad about the pop icons.

And their parents' obsession led to the couple meeting at a local club, where a Beatles cover band was playing.

Susan, 28, said: "We met when we were teenagers and it turned out we were both mad about The Beatles, so it was the perfect start."

The couple have spent thousands of pounds on Beatles gear and make an annual pilgrimage to The Beatles store in London to pick up more collectors' items.

Now their house is crammed full of memorabilia, and Stephen has even devoted their attic to the band.

After more than 20 years collecting records, posters and statuettes, Stephen, 29, admits he is running out of space.

"I've got my own little shrine to the Beatles, but I've even had to keep stuff at my dad's house because I just can't find any more space for all the stuff.

"Young Lennon is going to be surrounded by Beatles stuff and we've already started playing records to him, so I'm sure he'll turn out to be a fan like his parents," he said.

Their love of the Fab Four could see them naming more children after the band.

Susan added: "If we have a little girl we'll call her Starr McCartney, but there was no way we were going to call any of our children Ringo. It would just sound silly.
