After Saturday's games, only Cockfield and Darlington RA have 100 per cent records, although Brewer & Firkin still remain unbeaten.

Brewer & Firkin beat Glaxo 5-2 although the losers had got off to a good start with a goal from Ross Murray, but by half-time Brewer & Firkin had a 2-1 lead courtesy of Lester Corbett. In the second half he increased his total to four goals, with Rob Buckley adding a fifth while Brian Chiswall was Glaxo's other scorer.

Darlington RA beat Brandon Station 3-1. They led 1-0 at half-time with a goal from Graham Dodsworth, and increased their lead in the second half, with another strike from from Dodsworth and a goal from Martin Brown. Ian Ambrosini scored for Brandon towards the end.

A goal from Dave Sweeten in the closing minutes gave DSRM a 3-2 win over Coxhoe Athletic. Dave Sweeten gave DSRM a 1-0 lead with Andrew Soppitt equalising for Coxhoe. In the second half Tony Downing put DSRM into a 2-1 lead before Phil Lawson equalised for Coxhoe.

Quinns Inn won their first game of the season with a 4-1 win over Middleton Wanderers. Middleton got off to a good start with a goal from Darren Moore, but by half-time Quinns had gone into a 2-1 lead, with goals from Phil White and Stuart Greenwood. Michael Barrass and Phil White were Quinns' scorers in the second half.

Black & Decker were another team to win their first game of the season with their victory being a 4-1 win over Roddymoor. Michael Quinn gave Black & Decker a 1-0 lead with Stephen Bradwell equalising for Roddymoor but second half strikes from Quinn, Rob Mazur and Stephen Baker gave Black & Decker the win.

League champions Witton Park got off to a poor start, losing to Shildon Railway. John Shotton gave the Railwayman a 1-0 half-time lead before Paul Foster equalised for Witton Park but Shotton gave Shildon Railway a 2-1 win.

Fairs Software Tyneside Junior League

Tow Law made a losing start to the season when they visited Blakelaw. After conceding a first half goal to Craig Temple, they went on to lose 3-0 as the home side scored further goals through Kevin Smith and Mark Wardle.

South Moor reached double figures at home to Percy Main as the goals flowed from Kris Ewart (3), Lee Tweedy (3), Gavin Fazarkley (2), Tony Quinn and Lee Tender. John Baird with a brace and David Reid scored consolation goals for Percy Main.

Walker Central also went into double figures when they hammered Wideopen 11-0 with most of the goals coming from Andy Wilkinson with a hat-trick, Clark Kelty (2) and Jason Bates (2).

Liam McIvor (2), Lee Gerard, Alan Taylor and Lee Garwood (2) were all on target in West Denton's 6-1 defeat of Swalwell who replied just once through Anthony McKeown.

Craig Nesbitt (2), Michael Huggin, Jamie Cummings and Graham Burkes all struck when Redheugh Boys Club defeated East End 5-1. Gavin Wood was the East End scorer.

Richard Kidd and Andrew Smith both scored four times in Dunston Fed's 9-2 victory at Cleveland Hall. David Mordue also netted and for Cleveland Hall Scott Dodd bagged a brace.

Mark Noble (2) and Mark Taylor both found the net for New Hartley who won 3-1 at Consett. Andrew Elliott was a first half marksman for the Steelmen.

Hetton Youth League

Lumley made a good start to the season when they visited newcomers Murton and won 5-2. There was little to choose between the sides in the first half but during the second period Lumley turned their superiority into goals. Darren Henderson with a hat-trick, Shaun Pearson and Richard Kay were all on target for Lumley.

Stephen Copeland and Neil Maddison earned Herrington a narrow 2-1 victory at home to Ryhope while Springwell hit Witton Gilbert for six with a 6-0 win. Dan Clark rifled a hat-trick and others on target were Scott Robinson, Campbell Dempsey and Stuart Anderson.

Washington Dunlop and Springboard produced an 11-goal thriller which Dunlop won 7-4. Craig Carpenter made a splendid start to the season when he scored three times and others on the mark for Dunlop were Gary McCartney (2), Keith Vincent and Jonathan Grainger. Michael Shovelin (2), Dean Forrest and Shaun Graham put Springboard in the game while the Springboard goalkeeper Stephen Dixon had a splendid match.

Durham Alliance League

Seaham The Burn went top of the league on goal difference with a 2-0 home win against Washington Cross Keys with goals from Michael Appleby and Martin Taylor.

Hartlepool Boys Welfare maintained their 100 per cent record with a 4-3 away win at Chesters FC thanks to three goals from Geoff Cooper with Stu Cooper adding the other. Chester's goals came from David Henison (2) and Gavin Sweeney.

Seaham Mallard have yet to lose a game with a 6-3 away win at Ebchester being their latest victory with goals from Darren Green (2), Micky Edmunds, Barry Coughall, Rob Ruddick and Norman Carr. Ebchester's scorers were Chris Parkin (2) and Andy Pearson.

Whitehill FC had an easy 5-2 home win against Birtley Town Res with Jamie Routledge, Alan Forsyth, Graham Cooke, David Burnham and Graham Cooke being the goalscorers. Birtley Res' goals came courtesy of Brian Robinson and Paul Freeman.

Belford House won 2-1 away to Sunderland Flying Boats thanks to a late goal. Chris Clarke scored for Flying Boat after 20 minutes, but two goals from James McCay after 44 and 85 minutes sealed victory for Belford House.

Springwell Village won 3-1 away to Durham Victoria Bridge with goals from Anthony Noralee, Paul Hardy and Danny Murray with James Shield scoring for Victoria Bridge.

Cleveland League

Home team, Redcar Mackinley Parkside struggled to put out a team and were well beaten by their visitors, Boosbeck for whom Ian Brown scored first before Danny Sleeman fed Shane Breckon to make it two. An own goal, a second goal for Breckon, from good work by Gareth Slater and a strike from Sleeman put Boosbeck well in control before the interval. The second half followed a similar pattern and the goal of the game came from an unstoppable Slemmen volley. The game was wrapped up with a second own goal past the helpless stand-in goalkeeper Andrew Jackson to give Boosbeck a 7-0 win.

Huntsman got their season off to a flying start with a with a 2-0 win over Anchor Inn. John Kirkwood scored in the first half and Mark Boyd added the second goal in the second period.

Brotton enjoyed all the play in the first half and deservedly led at half time through two goals from Ryan Johnson. Highland Laddie then took over the second half with Lee Wharf pulling a goal back from the penalty spot before a Bryan Gauchi equaliser. Sub Mark Paisley then found the net to secure the 3-2 win for Highland Laddie

Grangetown and Lingdale United opened the season with a good game of football despite the swirling wind and hard pitch which made ball control difficult Grangetown took the lead on the half hour mark when a Dean Wake corner was missed by everybody and entered the goal on the near post. Welford and Wise shot wide at either end before Brown struck the equaliser with a direct free lick from thirty yards but Grangetown were back in front a minute later when Ged Cairns took advantage of defensive hesitation to give them a 2-1 win.
