JACKSON Reed-Stephenson from Boroughbridge competes in the Young Riders European Championships at Hartbury College, Gloucestershire this weekend.

Riding Michael Whitaker and Mrs Tordoff's consistent performer Baileys Pion, he will be hoping to follow up his win in the Hunter Wilson Novice Championship at the Royal International, Hickstead on Rob and Clare Fawcett's Baileys Laurens.

Jackson also qualified for the Horse and Hound Foxhunter Final after with a good win at Warren Farm and rode Geraldine Ellios's Pichet Du Revel to win a Foxhunter at Lough Farm, Carlisle.

The final of the BSJA Area 12 Millennium Championship, sponsored by G D McKeever & Co at Chester-le-Street, was won by Angie Mills on the seven-year-old Dutch bred Gibside Sarleen, by Joost. They finished ahead of Alison Lines with Rocktops My Mystery.

The North of England Grade C Championship was won by Rachel Collinson from Darlington on Bowes High Tech ahead of Phillipa McKeever with Crown Alliance and Julia Picken on Tom Jackson.

Samantha Nurse from Whitley Bay clinched the newcomers on Legal Jaguar, while Sara Martin picked up both the North East JC and JA Trophies with Zeemax. She was also third with Fircone Light Fantastic in the JC/JA, separated by Rae Louise Farmer on Golden Fortune.

l Wendy Dunn from Durham was on top form at Border Union Show, Kelso when she clinched the Dartmoor in hand championship with the nine-year-old stallion Hisley Diplomat, by Hisley Salvo. She also had a win with the yearling Rekclif Fairground Diplomacy.

The reserve champion was Sue Hide's three-year-old Shilstone Rocks Atlantic Swell, while Connie Logan's Riccalton Pewter, produced by Karen Nixon from Brompton and ridden by Kay Gerrigan, took the ridden Shetland ticket for the pure bred mountain and moorland championship to be held at Wembley.

Pewter also clinched the Shetland in hand and Karen also had a win with Boltwood Kent Black Patches in the coloured section.

Jerome Harforth from Great Ayton had a good win with Mrs De Pree's Cham Kingfisher in pony breeding youngstock.
