On July 11, the year ten pupils at Eastbourne Comprehensive School enjoyed a spectacular summer ball.

The reason for the ball was because the head of year ten, Mrs Walton, was leaving.

The year tens wanted to do something special to say goodbye to Mrs Walton.

The event was held at Darlington Football Club's Feethams ground, in the Ambassador Suite.

Pupils, staff, teachers and visitors all attended the event.

Some pupils arrived at the ball in black stretch limousines.

The gentlemen wore either tuxedos or posh suits. The ladies wore outstanding gowns. Everyone looked wonderful. There was lots of dancing at the ball.

Mrs Timmery organised dancing cards for all the pupils.

With the cards, you could go up to someone and ask him or her to dance with you for the dance on the card.

It was strange because this meant you were making an appointment to dance with a special person.

Halfway through the night, the pupils voted for the beau and the belle of the ball.

The beau was Toby Taylor and the belle was Claire Duffy. They were voted for by their friends.

We asked Nikki Jenkins, who attended the ball, a few questions. She said that "Everyone looked brilliant".

We asked her what she wore, and she said: "I wore a long, black, glittery ball gown, with a split up the side."

She agreed with the decision for beau and belle of the ball. She unfortunately did not dance with anyone, because her date was grounded and could not go.

We also asked Emily Hutchinson about the ball. She thought that Feethams was very posh and everyone was well dressed for the occasion.

She wore a long black dress, with black sandals.

She thought Claire Duffy deserved the belle award and Christopher Taylor deserved to be the beau.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the night, which was a big success.
