AN exhibition of dolls houses proved a big success for a fledgling County Durham club.

More than 200 people came to see the intricate work put on display by the Durham and District Dolls House Club on Saturday. The day also yielded up to a dozen potential new members for the group which meets on the first Monday of each month, 7pm to 9pm, at Blackhill Community Centre, near Consett.

The exhibition included a street scene, a Christmas-themed display and craft tips.

Member Alison Lycett said the club was only formed last year, but was growing all the time.

She added: "This was our first exhibition and we wanted to show people what the club is about and what we have made during the year. The great thing about it is that you can enter into a second childhood even if you are in your sixties. A tremendous amount of people came to the exhibition and the feedback has been very positive.
